PhysicsEditor offers you a simple and effective way of transforming your sprites into collision shapes for your 2D games. This application is not just an easy-to-use tool for drawing your shapes – it helps you solve all the issues related with object collisions following your game engine’s specifications.

The graphical editing part of the process is not only one of the most important features of the program, but also probably the most rewarding one. To produce a collision shape from a sprite in seconds, all you need to do is load an image and click on the program’s “MagicWand” icon. This will trigger the Auto Tracer, which will draw the object’s shape on top of the original image in a snap. Though the shape created will usually faithfully resemble the contour of the original image, you can always use your mouse pointer to modify the shape’s vertices manually by dragging the nodes provided. Alternatively, PhysicsEditor also allows you to create your own collision shapes from scratch using polygons. You can also flip your shapes either horizontally or vertically with just one click.

When it comes to the physics issues, the program will let you input several parameters to make your collision shape behave just the way you want: density, bounce, friction, size, etc. PhysicsEditor supports all the most widely used game engines on the market, including Cocos2d, Corona, Gideros, Sparrow, AndEngine, and AdobeFlash (both box2d and nape). Besides, the program’s output module can be configured to fit any other data format not supported natively.
